“Strippy Dresden Plate”

 


 

Working with todays “High of 60 Degrees” theme our Fast Finish Feature is a fun twist on the 60-degree Ruler to make Dresden Plate Blocks!

For (1) Block you will need

(4) 2” x WOF Strips of assorted Colors

(1) 12-1/2” x 12-1/2” Background square

 

Layout and sew together (4) Assorted Strips, along the long side, and press in the same direction. Strip should measure 6-1/2” x WOF. (image was done using scraps)

Cut out (6) 60-Degree triangles alternating back and forth down the ruler.

Fold the Triangles in half (right sides together) across the strips and sew a ¼” seam along the long side starting at the fold sewing towards the edge.

Flip unit right sides out the sewn edge will flip under and give you a finished edge on 2 sides. Give a good press. You may need to finesse the point out to get it to look nice.

Layout (6) triangles a shown. And sew into two sets of (3) triangles.

Sew halves together and press seam in either direction.

 

Applique Star block onto background square using your favorite method. We will discuss applique methods and options in future blog posts.
